Upcoming Events at Ottawa Gurdwara Sahib

On August 7th, 2011 we are organizing a special keertan darbarfrom 10:30am-1pm. Kids from Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar, Lasalle,Montreal are cominghere to perform keertan in classical raags using Tanti Saaj (string instruments)like Taoos, Dilruba, Santoor, Sarangi, Rabab and other classical music instrumentsused in olden days (Guru sahib's time).

Lasalle Gurdwara Sahib committee has invited Prof. Jaspal Singh fromPatiala for 5weeks to teach kids gurmat sangeet using Tanti Saaj. Prof. Jaspal Singh holds postgraduate degree in vocal,instrumental and tabla. He learned rabab from Ustad Gulfam Ahmed of GwaliorGharana. Prof. Sahib learned vocal and instrumental music from Late PanditJawahar Lal Sharma of Kirana Gharana. His specialty is now in gurmat sangeet, particularly with Tanti Saaj.
We humbly request every one to bring their kids to GurdwaraSahib on Aug 7th to see such an inspiring performance by Prof.Jaspal Singh and his students.
We are organizing this to promote and inspire our youth in learning of classical gurmat sangeet.

OSS Sikh Youth Camp 2011

With the blessings of Waheguroo Sardar Roop Singh Jee from U.K iscoming especially to teach our kids in the youth camp. Roop Singh jee is aprofessional speaker and is known for his simple way of interacting with kidsof all ages.
Kids and youth all over the world know him as "story teller witha difference". His blogs, sakhi's for kids can be found on internet. His someof the video's can be found on youtube and he is one of the regular presentersat the Sikh Ethics program on the Sikh Channel UK.

Some of the highlights of the youth camp are:
1) Camp is organized by Ottawa youth
2) Roop Singh "story teller with adifference" is coming to teach kids about Sikhi concept in a fun andentertaining way.
3) Teaching gatka to all kids
4) Teaching Dastar (pagri, dumalla, keski)
5) Special kids menu for all five days.

Registration requirements:
Date: Aug 8 - 12
Age: 6-16 years
Fees: $60 per child
Time: 8:30am -4pm

We request the Ottawa sangat who have not register their kids yet, to please register yourkids for youth camp before the date. Please find the attached registration form for the same.
